I Miss You, Mommy

A poem of yearning for a departed mother.

The songs we chanted

Tasty Sunday dinners produced

Memory tracks enjoyed after meals

And the bible verses we memorised

I miss you, mommy

A condition declares itself,

And I weep my eyes out

Your voice intent to soothe

Only your counsel inspires

I miss you, mommy

Whereas my emotions shattered into slices,

Regardless, he jilted me.

Dropped me for another

You formed comprehension of his claims,

I miss you, mommy

Although I lost my appointment,

Your power fell through for me

I came effective on your account

The universe had me covered

I miss you, mommy

I yearn for your distinguished nature

Your tenderness and perceiving guidance

I ache for your stern voice

Though so delicate,

I miss you, mommy

I desire for wide heaven’s gates

To meet you and split my agony

I perceive your response as:

“Allow it a chance,”

I miss you, mommy
